Man, I really need to get better at updating this thing more than every six months…

All right, NEWS!

1.  Beth McDonald (half of Korean Jeans) has released an EXCELLENT record for tuba and electronics entitled Still.  Still is available via the SAR webstore and for streaming on bandcamp.

There’s also a great interview Beth did recently with all sorts of insight regarding the album.

Hi friends -

Few quick updates.

1. I was asked to write a piece for Beth McDonald’s upcoming record featuring newly commissioned works for tuba.  The writing for CAD006-2 is underway and should hopefully be finished soon.

2.  Installation GC111 went up a few weeks ago.  Documentation to follow.

3.  Premiered a new work, R1817 at SAIC’s Waveforms events. Documentation to follow.

4.  Various solo performances have been happening here or there - I’ll try to be better about posting those dates here.

5.  SAR002 is available now - http://singleactionrider.bigcartel.com/product/sar002-neal-markowski-3-85 and http://singleactionrider.bandcamp.com/

7.  For infrequent experiments - https://soundcloud.com/neal-markowski

That’s all for now!  Happy Holidays!

Friends -

It was a productive summer.  On top of mounting Runout at SICPP in June, Korean Jeans took on a northeast tour (our tour dates preceded and took place during our few free nights on SICPP.)  We decided to record our shows and have released “Nor’eastour 2013” as a document of those shows.

Also, it’s with extreme pleasure that I announce the founding of my new label, Single Action Rider.  Last month, we had our first release, a split 7” lathe cut disc between myself and my good friend Caroline Park (http://blanksound.org/).  Plans for SAR002 and SAR003 are in place.   Hopefully we can have at least one (or both) releases ready to go by Thanksgiving.

Soon, I’ll upload the pictures and videos I have from the Runout installation.  Until then, you can listen to/download the KJ live album here - http://koreanjeans.bandcamp.com/album/noreastour-2013 - and the inaugural release on Single Action Rider here - http://singleactionrider.bigcartel.com/product/sar001-caroline-park-neal-markowski (purchase), http://singleactionrider.bandcamp.com/ (listen).

Thanks for stopping by!  More shows and performances to be announced soon.

Hi all,

Lots of things going on.

#1 - Korean Jeans is going on a tour of sorts! Check the “Performances” page for dates and locations.  It’s like we’re a REAL BAND! Come on out, say “Hi,” and ask us how much money we’ve lost so far.

#2 - I’m participating in SICPP this summer and will be premiering a new work that involves a turntable and other stuff I’m still learning how to use.  Not sure when it’ll be mounted during the fest, but it will happen!  It’s sounding like it’ll be mounted during the Iditarod, starting at 4:00pm on Sunday, 6/22.  It’s also provisionally titled “Runout” - we’ll see if that changes (which, knowing me, it probably won’t.)

OK, well I guess there are only two things going on, but, still, things!
